QuestionsCategory: Investor PsychologyCode for Companies
Chris Chan asked 2 years ago

Hi,
Would like to know how does it work finding a company such as for example Hyflux that is suspended. I went on yahoo finance but could only find Hyflux Ltd (HYFXF) and (HYFXY) which are both trading in US. The one i found on DBS vickers is (600) that is suspended which i think is the correct one.
Sorry for the very newbie question. Thanks in advance.

I think maybe you can check the SGX website under the companies.

Hi Chris,

You can just google “company name share price” and you can see the code of the company. Another method is as what Jieren had mentioned.

Hi Victor and Jieren, thanks. I understand hyflux code is 600.

I’m curious on the codes Hyflux Ltd (HYFXF) and (HYFXY) in the US market, does it mean that they are trading there as well?

Hi Chris,

Yes the two codes mean that that they are trading as well. Just that it is on the OTC (over the counter) market. Below is the definition of OTC market from investopedia.

Over-the-counter (OTC) refers to the process of how securities are traded for companies that are not listed on a formal exchange such as the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). Securities that are traded over-the-counter are traded via a broker-dealer network as opposed to on a centralized exchange. These securities do not meet the requirements to have a listing on a standard market exchange.
