I have just completed Breadtalk 2018 financial quadrant excel spreadsheet and like to check the following:
(1) For Dividend Payout Ratio (Exclude Extraordinary Item), the figure I gotten is 206.3%. Is this correct?
(2) For the past years share price to be key in the excel, for eg 2017, 2016 and so forth, which share price do I use? And where I can get the figure?
Hi James,
Breadtalk’s profit attributed to shareholder is around $15.2m
Extraordinary item is other income of $31.2m – $19.6m (management fee income) – $3m (rental income) = $8.6m – Do note that management fee income and rental income is their main business too.
Hence, the profit excluding extraordinary item should be around $6.6m which work to a EPS of roughly $0.012
Dividend per share is around $0.015 hence the payout ratio work out to be 125%.
Do note that Breadtalk is more of a growth company hence dividend is a secondary thing to look at.
As for question number 2 is as what Jieren had explained.

For (2), I would use the last day of the annual report closing as well as the closing price for that day via Yahoo Finance etc.
Breadtalk I think use Cashflows would be better due to high depreciation (if my memory serves).
Hope it helps.
Thank you Jieren
